CC plays with Whitley before returning home to Minnesota. She bought her Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls as a "get well" present. If you look closely, you can see the writing near Whitley's ear where they marked her prior to surgery.
This morning, Whitley had tubes placed in her ears after multiple months of recurring infections. It is a simple, common procedure that has been practiced for years, but we were still a bit nervous, as the babies have to be put under with general anesthesia. Whitley wasn't allowed to have anything to eat or drink after midnight, and we awoke quite early to check-in by 6:30. Sitting on a bed in a little hospital gown, Whitley charmed all the nurses as they passed. I managed to hold in every tear but one when they put the tiny mask over her nose and mouth and escorted me out, and mentally congratulated myself on my composure while chatting with an orderly. It was short-lived, however, and I had a teensy bit of a breakdown in the waiting area. :) Fortunately, we got a good report, and I was with Whitley just moments after. The nurses, again, were gathered around her, calling her "doll-baby" and "beautiful", marveling at her smiles despite the after-effects of anesthesia. We ended up being home by 9:00, and spent a relieved and relaxing afternoon at home. Whitley is still doing very well.
