Now that I've finished blogging our New England trip, I can catch you up on our recent weekend outings. Even though I know the blog is titled "Whitley's Week," I would like to write a little about what I did Friday night. This past May, our dear friend Cindi Rigsbee was named North Carolina Teacher of the Year, and I honestly have never known anyone who would be more worthy of the honor. She is the most sincere, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable teacher I've ever worked with. (Not to mention gorgeous and an absolute riot.) Cindi is a true star!! So, Friday she wanted to celebrate and "share" the award with her "BFF's" (just one example of her graciousness) by treating a few of us who worked closely with her to a delicious meal at The Angus Barn, a well-known steakhouse in Raleigh. We were wined and dined (cheese and crackers, salad, soup, steak, and a different dessert for each of us!), and then Cindi gave us each an engraved bracelet as she recalled humorous anecdotes about our experiences together, and complimented us on our own individual strengths as teachers. The evening will stand out in my mind as one of the highlights of my teaching career, being a small part of an outstanding woman's opportunity to make an even greater impact on education in our state. Thank you, Cindi! I am soooo proud to be your colleague and friend!!
On Sunday, Whitley got to celebrate a bit herself, when she attended her first big birthday party for little Logan
, who turned one. It was a great time with good eats and fun activities for all the kids. Stacy, George and Drew were there, and Drew made quite a splash in the different swimming pools and slip-n-slide. He is sooo fun to watch!!

I just LOVE her new short 'do!!)

This picture makes me laugh. All the silly noises I was making finally worked as all three babies looked up with the same blank face, like "Huh?"

Drew jumps in the slip-n-slide. Doesn't he have a nice little physique in his snazzy board shorts? :)
