Well, we have returned from our ten day trip to New England and a very nice visit with a multitude of Tom's relatives. I'd intended to blog our various activities throughout the week, but as it turned out, I did not have regular Internet access. (Or even cellphone service! It is strangely stifling to be so communicatively challenged. I'm amazed at how dependent I've grown on such technologies just over the last decade or so!) Consequently, I will just post some of the highlights and photoshoots of our trip over the next few days, starting with Whitley's first visit to Dog Mountain...
Dog Mountain is a cute little spot, not far from Tom's hometown, where Vermont artist Stephen Huneck honors man's best friend with an art gallery and chapel. Huneck's work primarily consists of painted wooden statues and colorful, wood-block prints. The chapel has stained glass windows picturing an assortment of cats and dogs, two tiny rows of carved and painted pews, and walls covered with notes and pictures in remembrance of beloved pets from all over the US. Here is the website for anyone who would like further information: http://www.dogmt.com/
On a side note, my darling little girl got called "fella", "buddy", and all other forms of "boy" that day. I know the jean capri/sans shoes and socks look is a bit Huck Finn, but did they not see the ruffled collar and sleaves, or the strawberry and flower embroidery on the pants? For the sake of beautfiful, bald babies everywhere, pay attention, people! :)
