Spring Break 2014

We were back in Myrtle Beach for spring break this year, and we lucked out with some beautiful weather!  As a result, we were able to take advantage of a lot of the fun spots Myrtle Beach has to offer.  Tom and I spent five nights with my parents before heading up to Carolina Beach.  There we stayed two nights with work friends in order to honor our long-term colleague and party pal Richard Kryder, as he is retiring from teaching this year.  Whitley spent the whole week with CC and Day Day, and had a grand time, of course.
An early Easter basket was waiting for Whitley when she arrived!
We visited Brookgreen Gardens for the first time, and it was lovely!  There were paths along the water to explore as well as animal habitats, and the largest collection of pieces by American sculptors in the United States.

Whitley works on her "Scavenger Hunt" provided by the park.
There is a special "Story Book Garden" for kids.  It included castles and play-sets inspired by Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Dr. Seuss, and more.

After Brookgreen Gardens, we tried another popular spot for the first time:  Murrells Inlet MarshWalk.  This promenade included many restaurants and bars on the water.
Mmm, I had a Lady's Lemonade.
Whitley colored a mask while we enjoyed the beautiful day.
On a different night we tried a local German restaurant.  I liked having goulash for the first time since I was a child, and we all appreciated the opportunity for Tom to show off his funny German accent.
Whitley requested "The Chicken Dance," which the kind gentleman gladly played, and then Whitley was persuaded to sing a few children's songs, as well!
Whitley, CC, and I checked out a huge new park nearby.  Impressive!
And CC always treats Whitley to a pedicure.  :)
CC and Whitley read a book about Minnie Mouse making Easter bonnets for her friends, and so they decided to make some for themselves!  It was quite the project and took a few days of gathering accessories and then sewing them on. It was well worth the effort!  Their parade was adorable!
What beauties!
That second tooth fell out during lunch the last day of spring break.  We'd just arrived home when I took this picture.  :)
