We Watsons are back from a fantastic week in Minnesota with CC and Day Day! Each day spent there was filled with activities and feasting, making for quite a memorable trip. We arrived on Monday, the 4th, and piled into my parents' "Grandelade" for the first time. (We'd heard about their new car, but had yet to see it. What a ride!) Daddy drove us to his casino, where we ate lunch and picked up tickets for the free concert in the casino's new amphitheater. Tom and I attended the concert that evening while Daddy worked, and enjoyed the summer evening, live music, and fourth row, center seats, even if the bands were unfamiliar. (Also, being the big V.I.P. high-rollers that we are, we were comped $10 worth of concession snacks which I found very exciting.) Tuesday was Tom's birthday, and he had a great one! We ate the buffet at Daddy's casino, gambled a little, and then went to the movies. CC and Whitley saw Cars 2 (Whitley's 2nd showing- she's OBSESSED with it!), and Tom and I saw The Green Lantern. In the evening, the Brunners joined us for a delicious steak dinner, fancy red-velvet cake and ice cream, and a small fireworks show. (My parents bought Tom a box of 'em for his birthday.) Wednesday was a big day, too. We attended a Twins game! It was pretty hot, but our seats were good, and we took turns cooling off by chasing Whitley around in the shade. And, of course, we did some serious eating. I think we tried one of everything from the concession stand. :)
Whitley shows her Daddy the card she wrote on for him.
Watching Daddy's fireworks. Some of the loud ones scared her, but she thought the black snakes were funny because they looked like poop.
This was very funny to me. Cathy kept blowing in Whitley's face, knocking her in the cheek, nose, etc. Whitley was really unsure about this, and seemed agitated as she struggled to blow her own. I was afraid Whitley was going to seriously break ugly on Cathy, but all at once she busted out laughing, figured out how to blow back, and a little battle ensued. Whitley ruined three of those things, getting them soaked and torn with spit!
Happy Birthday, Tom!
Our seats were in the last row of the section so we could easily climb in and out. The people behind us are just standing, either beating the heat or abandoning their cheap seats.
The Man in White. :)
It was a very nice stadium.
Whitley liked cheering for the players. When the crowd got loud she'd say, "Someone got a hit! Someone got a hit!"
Sittin' on the steps, eatin' some fries.
Tom was wearing his Bull's cap, which fit because the Twins were playing the Tampa Bay Devil Rays - the Durham Bull's affiliate.
Feeling Day Day's beard! Daddy had a goatee when we first arrived, and I couldn't believe it! Whitley couldn't either, and didn't even seem to recognize Day Day at first. We got a good laugh in the car leaving the airport when Whitley said in regards to the facial hair, "Day Day doesn't want to be clean." She told him he "needed a bath". :)
