Beautiful Vermont

We just flew home yesterday from a wonderful, week-long family vacation in Vermont, and boy, are we tired! Whitley slept 12 hours in her own bed last night, completely worn out. It's understandable, though, as our trip was a week of beautiful weather and constant activity, which led to a lot of outdoor fun. (Now, unfortunately, I did not capture all the good times and company with my own camera, so I must apologize in advance. I'm afraid these blogs are not going to represent all the loved ones we so enjoyed seeing up there, but I'm hoping others will share their pictures with me as there are many serious camera folks on Tom's side of the family. hint hint) Anyway, we flew to Boston last Tuesday, and drove up to Vermont through New Hampshire, stopping for our annual trip at Polly's Pancake parlor. (Mmmmm, it was even better than I remembered. Cornmeal and granola is my new fav.) We took photos on Trot Trot, of course. :) On Wednesday, Tom and I headed over to Burlington for the night to have dinner and drinks with some friends he hasn't seen in a while, leaving Whitley with Grammy, Papa, Dave and Terri. She had a great time with them, and it sounds like they were quite busy! Dave and Terri took her to a lake AND to get ice cream, which was very sweet. (And Whitley loved the ice cream place. We passed by it often, and she would point and squeal every time.) When Tom and I returned on Thursday, Mike was there with Scott, Mychaela, and Liam, and Whitley was so excited to see them! She loves hanging with the big kids, and acts so much older. That afternoon, we took all the kids back to the lake, as it was such a hit the day before. The sun was shining, and none of our crowd seemed to mind the chilly water. It was such a lovely spot; I couldn't believe we'd never been before on previous trips! Tom and Whitley ride Trot Trot.

Willoughby Lake

The calm, shallow water stretched so far; it was perfect for kids!

Posing on the rock. (This would be such a good picture if she were looking up at the camera!)

Friday morning, Judy and I took Whitley and Liam down in to town to run a few errands. Whitley and I ended up getting our toes painted for the big party on Saturday. She was very serious throughout the whole process.

Saturday morning, I hung out with Liam and Whitley while everyone else was either hiking or preparing for the anniversary party. Those two get along so well, making them an easy pair to watch. In this picture, they were hiding in a tent we made out of sheets in the living room.

When Grammy arrived home, though, and the tent was cleared away, there wasn't anyone else Whitley wanted. She climbed right up by Grammy for some serious snuggle time. :)
