Disney Day Two: Magic Kingdom

Flying high!
On Sunday, our 2nd full day in Disney, we headed to the Magic Kingdom!  It also opened early, at 8:00, and we were there to take advantage of the time.  We conquered Fantasy Land in about an hour, starting with Peter Pan.  (Lines for it are ridiculous throughout the day!  It is an early "must do.")  We once again enjoyed the new rides in Fantasy Land that debuted last year- Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Goofy's Barnstormer roller-coaster, the new Dumbo ride, and Enchanted Tales with Belle.  We popped in to "Ariel's Grotto" to meet her, and no one was in line!  It was the first time we ever saw Ariel as a mermaid.  During Enchanted Tales with Belle, Whitley went right up front for a part in the story.  Last year she was too timid and sat by us instead.  Well, her ROAR won her the big part- the Beast!  She donned a cape and danced with Belle as their story unfolded.  She was very serious.  At some point we tried Rapunzel's new toilets and sneaked over to the Haunted Mansion.  (Whitley doesn't care for the beginning when the walls extend and the lights go out, but she likes all the ghosts inside.)  Afterward, we met a few more princesses before leaving Fantasy Land and heading to Pirates of the Caribbean.  That is a family favorite, for sure.  We rode it four times total, I think.  The afternoons get really busy, so we spent some time wandering around Tom Sawyer's Island.  We'd never done that before, and Whitley really liked it!  She loved exploring the "caves" and shooting rifles from the fort.  At 1:20, we had a big buffet lunch at the Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore.  Then it was finally our turn to ride Big Thunder Mountain!  Always a fun ride.  We hung around a little longer into the evening, riding the relaxing and pleasant People Mover and trying supper at Cosmic Ray's (nothing special).  Overall, a fantastic day two!

Sitting pretty under the sea.

Our cup o' tea.
Whitley loves to go fast!
Posing in front of Rapunzel's tower.
Rapunzel's little corner is super cute.  Crazy it is just toilets!
Whitley is almost as tall at age 6 as Belle was at age 10.
Tale as old as time...  Beauty and the Beast.  (Incidentally, Whitley didn't care for her role.  She said afterward that she doesn't know why they chose her for the Beast when she is a girl.  Oh, well!  Tom and I were proud!)
I rode this, too, of course.
Meeting Rapunzel...
and Snow White.
A view from Tom Sawyer's Island.

Mommy's turn.
Big hugs for Pooh...
Piglet...
Eeyore...
and Tigger.
Crystal Palace dining.
Family photo with the castle.  (And the crane that was there the whole time.  Oh, well.)
Oh, I forgot about this!  There was a show about Dreams that ran a few times throughout the day.  We kept catching snippets, and Whitley really wanted to watch it, so we snagged some seats right up front for the 3:00.  Whitley really loved it- that's my girl!
Headed up Big Thunder Mountain.
Yee-Haw!!!
Just chillin' at the end of the day.  And, yes, we brought that little stroller, which was a bit ridiculous.  We like to get around quickly, though, and it is helpful for when Whit gets worn out!  (We promise it will stay home next year.)
A nice picture from The Crystal Palace, just a little out of order.  :)
