November Notes

November has flown by! It continued to be a beautiful autumn here, and we had some fun days and weekends this month. Here are a few pictures that cover a bit of the action: First of all, we kicked off November with a visit from CC and Day Day! But there was something particularly special about this trip- it was the last time they'll come from Minnesota! Day Day officially retired, and on his birthday, Nov. 5, he and CC began the three day drive down here to the Carolina's. We celebrated the occasion with a birthday/welcome/congratulations party. Whitley and I spent much of our weekend decorating for it (Whitley's new favorite activity), and the Davis boys arrived with banners of their own. :) CC and Day Day greatly appreciated our efforts, and remain very happy to be near us permanently.

Stacy made a big carrot cake for Day Day AND cupcakes for the kids. What a baker!

On Nov. 10, Tom and I attended a lunch in recognition of our receiving Bright Ideas grant money for supplies for our classrooms. (I am going to purchase 3 NOOKs, and Tom is getting 60 copies of the book, Unbroken.) It was a nice meal and presentation, and we felt quite honored!

Saturday, Nov. 19, Tom ran a four mile trail race with his friend Josh. It was very near our house, and a lovely, clear morning, so Whitley and I went to cheer them on. I thought Tom looked good running! Here he approaches the finish line...

And here, he and Josh joke about how they did.

Whitley and took advantage of some afternoon sunshine (and the large cardboard canvas) by painting on the deck. She is really in to painting these days- on anything and everything!

Her all-black outfit amuses me in these pictures. She's such a deep, and serious artist. :)

We also went to Carolina beach on Veteran's Day weekend with the Kryders and the Kelletts, but I managed not to take a single photo! We spent a night with CC and Day Day at their SC home, also, that trip. It was a great mini-vacay; too bad I didn't get any pictures. :(
