Drewby Spends the Night! Part One: The Children's Museum

We have certainly had many holiday and vacation evenings spent with the Davis family, but this weekend was the first time Drew ever came and spent the night at our house, all by himself! It was a busy fun-filled weekend from the moment he arrived Sat. morning, and I took a bunch of photos to share! First, after George left, we hopped right in the car and headed to our favorite Children's Museum to give Whitley and Drew an opportunity to run around and use their imaginations on a cold and wet day. The museum has all sorts of interactive exhibits that encourage lots of "pretending," and the kids did a great job exploring, both individually and together. Check out some of Drew and Whitley's favorites!Drew immediately headed to the real-life fire truck, and started dressing in all the available gear. One thing you gotta love about Drew- if he's going to do something, he is going to do it FULL OUT. And at this museum, that meant wearing all the available outfits. In this photo, I would like to point out the adult boots he's wearing. They were not easy to get on (or keep on!), but Drew was so pleased when he finally made it to the front of the truck in full fireman garb.
I had to drop Drew through the window of this race car!
Tom helps Drew get dressed so he can climb in the police car.
Tom played the convict. :)
Whitley tries out some camping gear. (I couldn't believe all the REI clothing and equipment on display! A small fortune!)
Mailing packages in the Post Office.
Whitley plays the part of receptionist in the doctor's office.
And tries out the examination bed, too.
This little house was so country and cute.
Drew and Whitley played together for a while in the construction zone.

Playing the role of conductor.
This train was Whitley's favorite when we visited the museum last Christmas, and she really liked it this time, too. We all took a spin in this little ride.
Drew was excited about his full cart of groceries. He was laughing at the big blocks of cheese!
Another young man was happy to ring up Drew's purchases, and Drew went right along with the game.
And then we came to the stage... Drew LOVED this area. (In fact, I'm not sure he would have ever left, if I hadn't stolen Stacy's move, and told him "The Boss" said all kids had a two hour time limit at the museum, and we were about to be kicked out.) This was a little playhouse with a stage, curtain, audience risers, sound booth, and a backstage dressing area with several costumes. Probably my favorite part of the day was when I was helping Drew get into this spacesuit, and someone in the sound booth pressed the button which announces, "Iiiiiiiit's SHOWTIME!" Well, Drew got all panicky and said, "Hurry, Cristie! It's showtime!!" He was ready to make his debut! He played the drum very well as an astronaut.
And as Dracula...
And also as a race car driver! Whitley finally joined in the fun towards the end.
And she amused everyone in the audience by coming out from behind the curtain to order, "Everybody clap!" We did! :)

Looks like a fun (and exhausting!) day! You and Uncle Tom are the best! Drew hasn't stopped talking about it :)
