We just got back from our latest trip to Myrtle Beach, and it was another great one! Tom, Whitley and I headed down there two Thursdays ago, to help get Mom and Dad's townhouse ready for their arrival. They joined us on Friday evening, and we hit the beach for the first time Saturday morning. Whitley immediately headed for the ocean, and we couldn't keep her out of it the remainder of the vacation. She is definitely a water baby like her Daddy! (We also checked into a beach front condo we rented for our collective use. Tom, Whitley and I stayed there most nights, and everyone rested and/or ate lunch there at some point during the week.) Saturday afternoon was my parents' neighborhood's annual 4th of July party. They had good food and a karaoke machine, and can you believe I got coerced into singing? Shocking, I know. :) The Gundies and the Davis crew drove in on Saturday night, and we were all together at the beach on the 4th. We stayed up late Sunday hoping to watch the fireworks display, but it didn't end up starting until 10:20! By that time, Baby David was asleep, Whitley had conked out on my lap (and then woke up and threw a MEGA overtired-tantrum when I tried to put her in bed) and Drew was telling Stacy he wished the fireworks would "go away and quit bothering us. They're too noisy..." A bit of a disappointment at the time, but a good laugh the next day. Tom's birthday was Monday, and we had lasagna, corn, cake and ice cream. (The cake was a bit of a fiasco. I forgot to put eggs in the first one, so when we took it out of the cake pans, it just crumbled. However, it was also one of the best testing cakes any of us had ever had, and we all chowed down on the crumbs! The second one I made was prettier, but most of the family said they preferred the taste of the first one. No eggs- who knew?) On Tuesday, Uncle Mark and Aunt Mary added to the fun. They really enjoyed getting a "change of scene" and sharing the beautiful weather with us. So I think that sums up the first half of the trip. Here are some pictures!

CC covered Whitley up to keep her from getting too much sun. (And- knock on wood- she has never burned! My baby girl is a tan little thing!)

Our gang set up a shady spot at the neighborhood 4th of July party.

Whitley painted sea shells while we adults relaxed. She even managed to keep the paint off her pretty white dress!

Whitley joined me in a line dance! She stayed out there long after the dance was over, too, just spinning and shaking! Everyone was telling us how cute she was.
Day Day and CC were the handsomest couple in the neighborhood!

Whitley and Drew just doing what they do... being extra silly and giggling on the porch!

Stephen and Drew laugh about their hats!

George brought down Drew's shark kite! It was so fun to fly!

Whitley was excited to take her turn.

The kids did a great job singing "Happy Birthday" to Tom.

We enjoyed a nice visit with Uncle Mark and Aunt Mary. They really liked my parents' condo and the beach.

CC had ice cream for Whitley and Drew. What a mess!
