Well, everyone who knows the Whitley side of our family, knows that we tend to stretch out our birthdays a bit. They are usually about a week-long celebration, and little Whitley is certainly something to celebrate! So she kicked off a big birthday weekend with a trip to the zoo, accompanied by Grammy, Papa, Uncle Dave and Aunt Terri. We spent nearly five hours seeing all the fun sights our state zoo has to offer. (And it is a super nice one!) Whitley wasn't quite old enough to understand that the animals were unable to get to us, and just old enough to be scared of them, so she tended to shy away from the edges of the enclosures. She was still fascinated by all the wild animals, though, and pointed and talked about each. Her favorites were definitely the seals and sea lions, and every time we saw a water habitat, she would say, "Seal! Seal! MORE Seal!" The zoo also has a fun kid zone and a beautiful carousel with exotic animals to ride, and Whitley took advantage of both. :)That afternoon, we continued the party with cupcakes and presents! Whitley dug right in to her chocolate cupcake, covered in a mound of icing, and tore open her gift from Aunt Terri and Uncle Dave. They gave her a baby doll who coos, giggles, and sucks a bottle, which went perfectly with the darling crib Grammy and Papa presented to her! Thanks for the wonderful day, Watsons!
