Northeast Adventure: A Maine Stay

Whitley and I both added a U.S. state to our list of those visited this summer with our first trip to Maine!  And before you tease me about the pun in my title, let me just say that Maine appears to love that joke.  I saw several examples such as Maine Street, Maine Course, etc.  Anyway, it is a beautiful state, and we had a lovely visit there.  We stayed two nights just outside of Camden, a picturesque little sea port, and I did everything I wanted to do there, which was basically eat some lobster and go to the beach.  (I had two lobster rolls- yum!)  We also enjoyed a very nice winery and a visit to a state park.  The photos give a better idea...
On the way to Camden, we stopped for lunch in Kennebunkport, and took some photos near the Bush compound.

It was a popular spot!
Near where we had lunch.
Our hotel had a pool, which was probably Whitley's favorite activity of the summer.  Tom was so good about booking hotels with pools on all of our trips, and he always took Whitley swimming- no matter what time of day or night. She sure loves it!
Thumbs up!
There was a public beach not far from our hotel.  The sand was dark and there were a lot of rocks, and we didn't want Whitley swimming in the water.  She had a great time, though, tossing the smooth stones or using them to building towers.  We spent a couple of hours there our first morning.
Happy Whit!

There was also a ferry stop.  We talked of riding it, but decided not to.  We watched it dock, unload, and get moving again, and it was a slow process!
Posing at the winery.
It was such a beautiful location and a very nice day!
Posing in an Adirondack chair.
One of Whitley's favorite poses. :)

This tower was at the top of the mountain in the state park.  Whitley loved it- called it a castle, of course.
Hello down there!
View of Camden from the tower.
A lady stopped me just after I took this picture to comment on what a good little model my daughter is.  I agreed that she was pretty good about humoring us most of the time.  She's used to getting her photo taken- that's for sure!
Whitley really did enjoy running around the park.  It was my favorite thing we did in Maine!
We had dinner in Camden and walked down to the water.  Very cute!
