Catching Up: Spring Breakers!

We spent Spring Break in Myrtle Beach this year.  It began with Easter weekend, and the Davises were there, too!  We went to a local Easter egg hunt which was a bit of a mad house.  Tons of eggs as far as the eye could see, and they were gone in seconds!  Amazing!  The Easter Bunny was very smart and left a basket for Whitley at CC and Day Day's house.  Sweet Judy Davis had a bag of goodies for her, as well.  Tom and I spent Monday night in Savannah as a little anniversary treat.  We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a well-known restaurant, the Olde Pink House, where I got a Caesar salad with fried oysters and shrimp over grits cakes.  (Both were recommended by Southern Living.  Yum!)  Tom and I also went on a haunted pub crawl and had the most fun!  It was three hours of local lore and bar hopping with a group comprised of mostly teachers.  I would definitely do it again.  The rest of week was spent relaxing with CC and Day Day.  We girls got our nails done, and played a little put put.  Too chilly to hit the beach, but a pleasant vacation all the same.  

Then, a week after our return home, Mike, Scott, Liam, and Mychaela drove down from Vermont to spend their Spring Break with us!  It was perfect weather here, which they loved since it was snowing when they left home.  We had a big cookout at our house, visited the Durham Museum of Life and Science, and went to a Durham Bulls' baseball game.  Whitley spent the night with her cousins at Grammy and Papa's twice. She loved packing her sleeping bag and hanging with the big kids!  

David and Whitley were in the same group for the egg hunt.  Poor David got knocked over and stepped on  within the first minute.  By the time I scooped him up and calmed him down, the eggs were gone!  Oh, well.  He got a goody bag filled with snacks anyway.  :)

The Easter Bunny came!  And he brought a Max and Ruby book!

AND a Catwoman costume!!  Whitley was soooo excited about this present.

Whitley was so funny while she got her nails done.  She chatted away to the man  helping her.  He seemed both confused and amused.  

He also asked her if she wanted a "design" on her nails. Well, she's five, so... what do you think?  Whitley was so excited.  After getting a little extra something on just her big toes, she was shrieking across the salon, "Mommy!!  I'm getting a design on ALL my fingers!!"

She followed the rules and cheered for Mom and me when it was our turns.
