Fall Fun

In addition to lots of birthday parties, there have been many other activities to keep us busy this fall.  (And it's good to note, I got so far behind on blogs, that now these are more thematic than sequential.)  In October, Whitley's preschool class participated in a local "Hand-Made Parade."  She and her classmates were fish that they'd helped make and paint at school.  Every participating student had to be escorted by a parent, so I marched, too!  It was fun, and Tom, Grammy and Papa cheered us on from the crowd.  There were some really cool costumes- giant snakes, birds of every kind, and fantastic creatures on stilts were a few that stood out to me!  Whitley was super excited about the parade at first, but it started late, so she was pretty tuckered out by the end.  Still, I hope her Kindergarten participates next year!
Waiting behind the start line.
Still waiting, but smiling!
Walking with her crew!
Whitley also participated in a little six week ballet class this fall.  It met after school at the community center on Tuesdays, and was pretty low-key.  They even told me on the phone that leotards and tights were not required, so I sent Whitley in her school clothes the first day, despite her insisting she needed a tutu.  Well, sure enough!  Every little girl in the class was dressed in pink from head to toe, and Whitley scowled, blamed it on me, and pouted the first 10 min.  They they danced to some Disney songs, and she was hooked!  And CC got her some ballet clothes, too. :)  At the end of the six weeks, she and her classmates performed a little routine to "Beauty and the Beast".  Dave, Terri, Grammy and Papa joined us for it!

So proud!  She knows first, second and third positions.  :)
Yearly tradition- painting a pumpkin!
Whitley likes to paint while Tom and I carve.
We've had some beautiful weekends lately, and we've tried to take advantage of the weather with family hikes around the neighborhood.  We love taking our hiking sticks from Aunt Betty and Uncle Mike!  Whitley is a real trooper!
Whitley was so funny wearing this pajama outfit from Grammy on our hike.  I told her she should change before we left,  and she said it was "Wear pajamas as clothes day."  (Whitley would have this day a lot, if she could!  Notice she's painting in her nightgown in the previous photos!)

Whitley likes to take a break on this tree.
We spent Veteran's Day with CC and Day Day at Myrtle Beach.  They were so good to us, cooking all my favorite foods and treating us to a delicious fancy Italian dinner out.  The weather was nice enough to hit the beach one day, and Whitley had a great time running around, playing in the sand and sun.  These were the only photos I took the whole weekend, though!
I think that finally wraps up our autumn!  Next up- Holidays!!
