I (Tom) flew down to FL to pick up my parents Memorial Day weekend, and they stayed with us through June 15. We had a great visit with them, enjoying many nice meals, evening family time, and chats on the porch. Whitley stayed home from preschool several days to have some quality time with Grammy and Papa, and it was a treat for us to know she was with them. Earlier in the year, my parents purchased a home in Fearrington village, and this trip they were able to do some unpacking there and get some things settled.
Here we are posing with "Flat Stanley" at the pool of Whispering Sands. This was a project from Whitley's school for the kids' map unit. Each kid would create their own Flat Stanley (from a book of the same title), mail it to someplace in the world, have someone take photos of him there, and mail the photos back. The kids tracked the Flat Stanleys on a map. Naturally, ours wanted to go to Siesta Key!Dave, Mom, and Liz posing by the new fridge in the new Fearrington town home!
Whitley is enjoying her new pool. No diving!
One of our favorite excursions is to "Z Bowl" in Mebane. Whitley loves the opportunity to practice her bowling skills with her snazzy bowling shoes. We didn't get Grammy and Papa to play this time, but I think they still had a nice time.
Papa gets a makeover! That's right, he was a the lucky winner of a makeover from Whitley. I am not sure I can remember the last time Papa used a comb, but Whitley clearly felt that it was time. That head band really brings out the color in his eyes, don't you think?
Uncle Dave and Whitley got to work on some coloring and a bag of goldfish. I believe that this is for a coloring contest at a local grocery store. Good luck, Dave!
Sister Terri and Sister Whitley of Buckhorn Ridge Abbey! (Actually, that was supposed to be their long hair.)
The Watsons together (even Rocky, if you look carefully)! Uncle Mike flew down near the end of Mom and Dad's visit to escort them up to Vermont. He was not here very long, but it was great to see him. It was so nice to have the whole family together. See you again in August, Grammy, Papa, and Uncle Mike!
