Spring Saturday

Whitley had a super fun Saturday, spent with some of her favorite kiddos. First we headed over to the Davis's house for a yummy lunch of grilled turkey burgers. (Thanks, George!) We ate outside on the patio since the kids were having such a hoot playing with the sand and water tables. (They ended up getting so wet, that they all took off their clothes to dry and played in their undies!) We'd wanted to let Drew, Whitley and David play a bit before we participated in our primary purpose of visiting- to cheer on Drewby at his soccer game! We'd watched him once in the fall, and it was so fun that we'd hate to miss out on his spring season. Whitley was really excited initially, but then became very disappointed when she couldn't play with him. She kept saying, "Mommy, Drew and me are gonna score a goal, and you're going to cheer, OK?" I had to pull her back to the sidelines! I tried to explain to her that she wasn't on Drew's team, and pointed out all the kids in matching t-shirts. So she reasoned, "Next time, I'll get my soccer shirt, and then I can play with Drew and score a goal." (She has her own soccer shirt from last year.) It actually broke my heart, a bit! Will have to consider signing her up in Drew's league next year... Anyway, once Whitley realized she couldn't play, she and David ran all over the sidelines, including up and down a hill countless times, with David following her every move. It was so sweet! He was literally hanging on her, as you will see in the photos. :) When it came time to go, Whitley cried and cried at having to leave her cousins. But still, our evening was just getting started! After the soccer game, we went to the Kellett's for a yummy supper of grilled terryaki chicken and pineapple sandwiches. (Thanks, Ted!) Katie and I walked Nolan and Whitley (whose tears stopped once we arrived at the Kellett's to play) down to their neighborhood creek, and those two had a blast! They threw rocks in the water over and over, and were both drenched and filthy by the time we sloshed back to their house. It was kind of late by the time we got them cleaned up and sat down to dinner, and they scarfed down every bite. We hated for the fun day to come to an end, but Whitley was asking for her bed by the time we got home around 9:15. All the sunshine and activity wore her out so much, she even put herself down for a nap on Sunday! She never naps at home anymore, but around 3:30 she said, "I gotta go to sleep right now," walked right upstairs to her room, and didn't make a peep for two hours. :) I hope the rest of our spring weekends are as nice! Sillies.

Drewby's everyone's favorite clown. :)

I think this picture is so funny and precious. He was starting to take off his shirt because it was wet, but I can't help but hear LMFAO, "Girl, look at that body... yea, I work out." hee hee

Ready for the soccer game!

Gooooooo, Drew!

Taking a break.

Hanging on Whitley. :)

Hanging out on a goal.

I thought this was cute. The players run through a tunnel made by all their loving fans. Whitley was happy to get in on the action!

All of my creek pics are blurry. Whitley and Nolan were on the move! Cute Nolan has two rocks ready to fly!

She waded right in. Boots were kind of pointless, really. :)
