Whitley gets so excited for just about everything these days, and Valentine's Day has been no exception! My delightful daughter has been enamored with this holiday that celebrates so many of her favorite things- treats, crafts, and pink! The fun started on Feb. 4 when we met the Davises over at Mae Mae's for our annual Valentine cookie making and decorating. Whitley was happily focused on her work, and has asked if we can make more cookies nearly every day since. Mmm, I wish! They were pretty AND delicious! Then, Whitley and I threw ourselves in to the task of hand-making valentines for her 18 classmates and 3 teachers. I'm not exaggerating when I write that we spent nearly seven hours across three evenings to get them all done. But again, Whitley was cheerfully engaged for every minute of it. I thought it was an enjoyable activity for us, also. Well, the big day arrived, and Whitley was thrilled to FINALLY be able to take her cards to school. (She'd asked every morning since we started them!) Her class celebrated with a "fancy dance" in the morning, and special snacks in the afternoon. The kids were allowed to dress up, and for the girls that meant... Princess Dresses!!! Whitley chose to wear her Pinkalicious one, and was pumped about bringing in the matching book, as well. CC gave it to her in her Valentine's Day package, and Whitley loves it. (Seriously, the night she opened it, she was jumping up and down, clutching it to her chest and exclaiming, "I LOVE my book! Oh, I love it! I love it!") And Tom and I love everything about our funny little Valentine. :)
Whitley proudly shows off her Valentine's Day Pinkalicious book, and holds the bag of cards this morning before school.
She and her classmates made paper plate holders for their valentines.
One of her friends jumped in this picture. :) I wanted to get the string of hearts crossing the room; you can see just a few across the top. Whitley's name was on the back of most of them, so I think she played a major role in the decorating!
Tonight Tom shared the cards he made for us. Whitley, again, squealed about how much she loved hers while hugging it. I think her favorite part was the glitter heart inside. (Good job, honey! I know that made your evening!) :)
Yay! Valentines!
We got to make cookies in Mae Mae's beautiful new kitchen!!
