Whitley has had a lot of fun this past month! CC and Day Day were here the third weekend in May, and they were pleased to give Whitley a new sand and water table. She's already spent several hours making castles, cakes and such, and it is such a pleasant activity in the shade of our yard. The days are warm enough, though, that CC thought a sprinkler would be a cool idea! She and Whitley played in it a couple of days. Whitley really got a treat when CC stayed longer than Day Day, and she got to skip school and stay with CC for three days! One morning, the two went shopping at the outlet mall, where Whitley loves playing on the nice playground. Then last Thursday, Whitley had her final soccer class. It was a six week course in which the kids, ages 3-5, rotated through various stations to learn key soccer skills. Thursday's class was an opportunity to assess the children on the skills, and then they all received a certificate, photo, and trophy! Whitley was so sweet clapping and cheering for all of her classmates, and then lit up when her name was called. All of the kids were enthralled with their trophies. Whitley carried hers around all evening, and the next morning, asked if she could take it to school. :) Last Saturday, Tom ran his first 10K. He has participated in multiple 5k's over the last year or so, and Whitley and I have never seen him race! Thus, we were very excited to watch him run Saturday in Graham. Whitley was extremely interested in the event. She climbed right in a chair, and took her role as cheerleader very seriously. Everyone who passed received an enthusiastic, "Good job! Yea!!!" Some people were surprised by the little voice urging them on, but most smiled, waved, and thanked her. After Tom ran by, Whitley said, "I run a race, too," and took off down the street! She's ready to be signed up!
Whitley has a snack while waiting for the first runners to turn the corner.
Proud soccer player and Daddy.
Wow! What a cool trophy!
