April Showers and Flowers

We headed back to Durham today to meet some friends for lunch, and the stormy weather held off much longer than any of the forecasters predicted, granting us a surprisingly pleasant day. We stopped by Duke gardens once again, to see all the flowers in full bloom this time, and Whitley got a chance to show off her cute new raincoat from CC. Now, Whitley is officially in the "Cheeeeeeese!" stage of toddlerhood when she is perfectly willing to pause and smile for a picture, but the smile will be a full-faced, teeth-baring, nose-scrunching, eye-squinting one, and if you don't snap the photo in the time it takes her to actually say "cheese" then that is simply not her problem and you are out of luck. (I'm just giving you a head's up...)
Here it is: "Cheeeeese!"
One of the only natural ones.
Daddy missed it.
A slightly different version- eyes wide but mouth closed. :)
Smelling flowers.
Outside of the restaurant, there were three playhouses on display as part of a charity auction. They were so cute, and Whitley and Nolan had the best time playing in them for over an hour! Check out the fireplace, carpet, and wainscoting! (By the way, this was the second time Whitley wore her pink flats in public, and they were such a hit once again! She got so many compliments on them. I guess she's got an eye for style- she picked them out herself!)
This was my favorite- the Sheriff Station. It had a checkerboard inside, and the kids loved playing with the pieces.
