Happy Father's Day! This is a very good Father's Day for me, personally, because my own Daddy is home from his surgical nightmare and recovering, slowly but surely! I went up to MN to see him just after his release from the hospital, and it was such a relief to be able to hug and kiss him as much as I wanted! (I don't think I need to review the whole experience here, for a few reasons. First, my sister already did a beautiful job on her blog. And second, I'm not worried about forgetting it.) I hope my loving husband is also having a nice Father's Day. Whitley and I are certainly grateful for all the wonderful things he does to make our lives such happy ones! I am particularly appreciative of the way he took care of Whitley while I was away, and for being so understanding of my need to go. He is such a GREAT Daddy and husband!!
This morning started with Tom making banana bread. (See what I mean? He even cooked all the meals today!) Then we all sat down to eat it and watch Tom open his cards and presents. I told Whitley that we were going to have banana cake and give Daddy presents, and she went racing to the table, "A party! A party!" The rest of the day has been pretty laid back, doing some work around the house, and enjoying Whitley's pool outside. Tom did request that I make Stacy's delicious oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies tonight, and I am more than happy to!
I just don't know what I would do without Day Day and my Tom! Here are some pictures of Whitley and my two favorite men in the world:
Here is a photo I love! (And one I stole off Stacy's blog) This was the day before Daddy had his surgery. I don't think I'd ever seen him in a turquoise shirt before, and we all kept talking about how nice he looked!
Here's Daddy at home with "Nurse Roo," his sister who came and assisted my mom through the whole two-week ordeal. Stacy, Mom, and I were so thankful to her for being there- for all of us! (Daddy's face is thinner, but still- isn't he handsome? Everyone at the hospital couldn't get over how good he looked! So tan and cute!)
Whitley likes to snuggle with her daddy. They had a movie on, and Tom was also reading, and Whitley was rubbing her foot all over his head. :)
Opening presents...
Whitley gets a kiss on the nose for her gift!
Tom's present from me! It is a pair of boat shoes. I wrapped the shoebox in paper, and made this little scene. It's 3-D. :)
Hanging out in the pool!
Y'know it was hot if I got in!
These are the flowers Daddy sent Mommy, thanking her for being such a good "nurse." I wanted to add them in, because I didn't do a Mother's Day blog, and my mom deserves some recognition, too. Daddy's wonderful recovery is owed in large part to Mommy, who was so sweet and strong throughout the entire ordeal. She really held it together, and I will always be sooooo proud of her! I truly have the best, most perfect parents in the whole world! (Though, I have to admit, Tom has a few great ones, himself!)
