Grammy and Papa had everything ready for us when we arrived at their condo. Here Whitley checks out the corner of toys prepared for her.
On our first day at the beach, Whitley discovered a large sand sculpture of a hammerhead shark! She was excited to see one of her favorite sea creatures right there, available for petting and climbing.
Monday was gloomy, so we headed to the Mote Marine Aquarium. Whitley was a little taken aback by the manatee who repeatedly pushed himself right towards her. (She didn't get any closer to the tank than what you see here!)
Real hammerhead sharks were in this tank, but they didn't make the picture. Whitley loved watching them!
The perfect tank- nothing but Nemo's and Dori's! Whitley could have stood here all day. (She cried when we had to move on.)
Mornings at the beach were spent running, of course!
There was also some digging and splashing. (We saw tiny fiddler crabs in this hole! I'd only ever seen them at NC beaches!)
Tuesday was Whitley's Great Aunt Joyce's birthday, and Grammy and Papa hosted the cake and ice cream. Grammy bought a beautiful Princess and the Frog balloon to mark the occasion, though I think Whitley loved the balloon much more than Aunt Joyce. (We all watched the movie afterward!)
Happy Birthday, Aunt Joyce!
Whitley takes some time out at the beach to show Grammy some love. :)
We were surprised to find that Whitley was initially afraid of the pool. (We tried to get her to swim early in the week, but she resisted. When Tom put her in, she screamed, and then stood along the edge crying, "I'm wettttttt!") However, by Thursday, she loved it. Grammy and Tom showed her some swimming basics, and were pleased with how she kicked, splashed, and blew bubbles.
