What a winter this has been! More snow this year than any since Whitley's been born, for sure. (I am keen to think that Disney is at least partially responsible, and that all the inclement weather is nothing more than a successful marketing scheme, as Frozen is still in theaters and Whitley sings "Let It Go" nonstop.) We were even able to get out the sleds Santa gave Whitley for Christmas three years ago a couple of times. Here are a some pictures from our various snow days! (We've missed eight days of school so far, I think!)
| The first snowfall was just a few inches. Too wet for a snowman, but decent for some sledding. We walked over to a sloped cul-de-sac in the neighborhood for a few runs. |
| Whitley did best when riding with daddy. |
| She even hitched a ride home. :) |
The second blast of snow brought layers of powder and ice, about six inches worth. Poor Whitley had a virus (headache and fever) and didn't get to enjoy it as much as other kids, perhaps, but we ventured out a few times.
| For instance, we couldn't resist dressing her up as Anna and go looking for Elsa! |
| Tom even made some "snow cream" for us. A delightful childhood memory of mine is eating some my mom made. |
| He made a little snow igloo, as well, with a candle inside. So pretty! |
| Whitley was up for some sledding in the back yard. |
| She doesn't have a snow suit, so we went with lots of layers. |
| Grammy and Papa were snowed in with us for this big storm, and Grammy took a few rides, also! |
Our latest winter storm was all ice. It fell through the night last Thursday, and we lost power around 3:30 Friday morning. It was finally turned on early Monday morning. Trees and power lines were down all over out here; it was crazy! Fortunately, we were able to get out of town and headed to my parents' for the weekend. It was beautiful and warm, and we had a nice time. Thanks, CC and Day Day! Let's hope that it is our last winter weather until Christmas!
